How To Do The Geode Makeup
Don't bathroom salts look just like tiny crystals!?
I was actually thinking of new massage bar ideas (with valentine's twenty-four hour period approaching and all) and all of the different means you could give them texture.
My mind was just wondering about salt when this vision of geode-shaped bars popped upward in my head.
The simply problem: they would probably be a bit scrubby as balm confined. And then I realized: they belong in the bath tub!
So I came upwards with this recipe for Bath Salt Melts, tried it, and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.
Don't they look cute? #prouddiymommy over hither!
What I used:
- 1 tbsp. epsom salt – Get it hither
1 tbsp. dead sea table salt – Become it here
ane tbsp. coarse bounding main salt
You tin can as well use 1 kind like epsom common salt or use dissimilar proportions.
two tbsp. coconut oil – Get it here
1 tbsp. Shea butter – Go it here
All coconut oil works too. Just make sure they don't cook at room temperature. Store them in the refrigerator if necessary.
Optional:
Food or soap coloring
Y'all tin can also substitute ane tbsp. of salt with himalayan table salt, which has a natural pretty pinkish shade!
A few drops of essential oil – I used lavender – Become it here
Colour the table salt
Use i tablespoon of salt for a pop of color in the middle.
I colored the coarse sea salt because I've found that these absorb coloring the best.
Put the bounding main common salt in a seperate bowl and add together i drop of soap or food coloring. Stir well to combine and permit the salt sit while it absorbs all of the coloring.
I was actually trying to make a regal colored salt by using ane drop of blue and i drop of red soap coloring. Just for some reason it turned out this emerald blue/dark-green-ish color.
Melt the oil and butter
Melt 1 tablespoon of Shea butter and 2 tablespoons of kokosnoot oil in a double boiler or in the microwave. Make sure it'southward all melted simply at the same time don't let the mixture get piping hot.
Make full your molds
Pour most one-half a tablespoon of the mixture in each mold. You lot should have a layer of about half an inch in each i.
I really recommend using flexible molds for this DIY. I used cupcake molds.
Add the salts
Now for the bath salt layer. Sprinkle a chip of salt on top of the mixture.
I used 2 heaping tablespoons of expressionless sea salt and epsom common salt around the border. And and then I added the blue bounding main salt in the middle.
The salt should barely popular upwards to a higher place the mixture layer.
Allow them dry out
Permit the bath common salt melts harden in the molds. Popular them out as soon as they await ready.
Driblet i in your bath water to release the bath salts and moisturzing oils. Or add ii. Or three.
If you like this DIY then don't forget to put a pin on it! 🙂
